Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: June 2026

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs all use of the ASG Forensics client portal, intake submission system, communication channels, and investigative services. It applies to all clients, prospective clients, authorised representatives, and any individual or entity who accesses or submits information through our systems. By using any ASG Forensics service or platform, you agree to be bound by this policy in full. This AUP supplements and should be read alongside our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Service Agreement.

2. Permitted Uses

The ASG Forensics portal and services are provided exclusively for the following legitimate purposes:

  • Submitting genuine intake requests for digital forensic investigation, cryptocurrency tracing, or cybercrime analysis in relation to incidents that directly involve the submitting party or an entity for which the submitting party has lawful authority to act.
  • Uploading and managing evidence related to a genuine, authorised investigation.
  • Communicating with assigned analysts regarding an active engagement.
  • Accessing case status updates and forensic reports for engagements you have commissioned.
  • Verifying the authenticity of a forensic report using the document verification system.
  • Requesting information about available services for the purpose of evaluating whether to commission an engagement.
  • Submitting abuse reports through the designated abuse reporting channel.

3. Prohibited Uses — General

The following uses of the ASG Forensics platform and services are strictly prohibited. This list is illustrative and not exhaustive:

  • Submitting false, misleading, or fabricated information in an intake form or during an engagement, including misrepresenting your identity, your relationship to the subject matter, or the facts of an alleged incident.
  • Using ASG Forensics services to facilitate, conceal, or advance any unlawful activity, including fraud, money laundering, tax evasion, or any criminal offence under applicable law.
  • Attempting to use investigative services to gather intelligence on competitors, business partners, or other third parties without their knowledge and without a legitimate legal basis.
  • Requesting forensic analysis of devices, accounts, or communications belonging to another person without that person's knowledge and without lawful authority to do so (such as formal legal process, parental authority over a minor child's device, or employer authority over company-owned equipment with appropriate disclosure policies in place).
  • Attempting to harvest, scrape, or systematically extract data from the portal or any ASG Forensics web property.
  • Using automated scripts, bots, or crawlers to interact with portal systems.
  • Attempting to probe, scan, or test the security of ASG Forensics systems without express written authorisation.
  • Sharing your portal login credentials with any other person or entity.
  • Impersonating another client, analyst, or third party within the portal.

4. Prohibited Case Types

ASG Forensics retains the absolute right to decline any engagement at its sole discretion. The following categories of cases will not be accepted under any circumstances:

  • Revenge and harassment: Investigations whose evident or stated purpose is to locate, expose, embarrass, intimidate, or harm a specific individual for personal reasons unconnected to a genuine legal claim.
  • Unlawful surveillance: Any request to monitor, track, intercept, or record the communications, location, or activities of an individual without their knowledge and without a lawful basis (such as a court order or an applicable employment monitoring policy with proper disclosure).
  • Fabricated claims: Cases in which it is evident, or becomes evident during the engagement, that the client is seeking to manufacture or exaggerate evidence to support a fraudulent claim — whether against an insurance company, financial institution, exchange, employer, or other party.
  • Competitor intelligence: Requests to investigate, analyse, or gather information about competing businesses, their personnel, their technical infrastructure, or their clients, where no legitimate legal dispute or protective security interest exists.
  • Child exploitation material: Under no circumstances will ASG Forensics analyse, handle, or process material that may constitute child sexual abuse material or any content that exploits minors. Discovery of such material during an engagement will be reported to the appropriate authorities.
  • Politically motivated targeting: Investigations whose purpose is to target individuals based on their political views, religious beliefs, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or membership of a protected group.
  • Cases involving the client's own unlawful conduct: Engagements in which the client is seeking to use forensic findings to deflect accountability for their own unlawful actions or to obstruct an ongoing investigation by a law enforcement body.

5. Prohibited Content Uploads

The following content must not be uploaded to the ASG Forensics portal under any circumstances:

  • Malicious software, including viruses, ransomware, trojans, spyware, or exploit code, except where such files are submitted as part of a formally scoped malware analysis or incident response engagement.
  • Content that is unlawful to possess, distribute, or transmit in the jurisdiction of the submitting party or in England and Wales.
  • Material that infringes the intellectual property rights of any third party.
  • Content that constitutes a threat against an identifiable individual or group.
  • Personal data belonging to individuals who have no connection to the stated subject matter of the investigation, submitted without a lawful basis under applicable data protection law.

6. Prohibited Attempts to Access Other Clients' Data

Each client's case data is maintained in a logically separated environment. Any attempt to access, view, download, modify, or interfere with data belonging to another client — whether through technical exploitation, social engineering, guessing case reference numbers, or any other method — is strictly prohibited. Such attempts constitute a serious breach of this AUP and may constitute a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and equivalent legislation in other jurisdictions. ASG Forensics will pursue all available legal remedies in respect of any such attempt and will report suspected criminal activity to the relevant authorities.

7. Consequences of Policy Violations

Violations of this Acceptable Use Policy may result in one or more of the following consequences, applied at the sole discretion of ASG Forensics:

  • Immediate suspension or termination of portal access
  • Termination of any active engagement without refund
  • Permanent exclusion from future use of ASG Forensics services
  • Disclosure of relevant information to law enforcement or regulatory authorities where required by law or where ASG Forensics determines a legal or public interest obligation exists
  • Civil proceedings for damages arising from the breach

ASG Forensics will not issue advance warnings before taking action where a violation is serious, involves unlawful conduct, or poses a risk to the safety of any person.

8. Reporting Abuse

If you believe that another user is misusing the ASG Forensics platform — for example, by impersonating you, by submitting false reports about you, or by attempting to access systems without authorisation — please contact us immediately at the email address published on our Contact page. Reports of potential child exploitation or serious criminal activity will be treated with the highest priority and escalated to law enforcement without delay. All abuse reports will be treated in confidence to the extent possible consistent with any legal obligations that arise from the report.

9. Changes to This Policy

ASG Forensics reserves the right to amend this Acceptable Use Policy at any time. Changes will be published on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the portal or services following the publication of any amendment constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. Where an amendment materially restricts previously permitted uses, ASG Forensics will make reasonable efforts to notify active clients through the portal or by email.
